+ live music + Q&A

Ana Sofia Fonseca

see below for details on Q&A + additional event information

The definitive voice of Morna music, Cesária Evora carved a national identity for Cape Verdeans around the world. She sang barefoot on the world’s biggest stages, insisting on taking mid-set breaks to smoke and drink.

Cesária’s life was full of tragedy to her late in her life. She dreamed only of having a house of her own and enough to eat, but she needed an income that could match her generosity. Cesária Évora presents a loving portrait of a complicated woman, painted by those who knew her best.

Winner of the Indie Lisboa Audience Award, 2022.
