Scotland’s Ibero-American Documentary Films Festival

ABOUT IBERODOCS

ABOUT IBERODOCS

What's IberoDocs

IberoDocs is the first showcase for Ibero-American culture in Scotland, focussed on documentary films by Spanish, Portuguese and Latin- American filmmakers.

Ibero-America refers to a geographic area that includes Latin American countries as well as Spain and Portugal.

IberoDocs brings to Edinburgh and Scotland the most significant productions from Ibero-American culture in a festival that is as distinctive as it is unique.

The Festival was founded in 2013 by Mar Felices and Xosé Ramón Rivas, with the support of Isabel Moura Mendes.

Mission

Our mission is to celebrate the culture and history of Ibero-American countries through documentary films, by establishing an annual event in Scotland that facilitates the understanding of migration and stimulates cultural and social integration.

Meet the 2022 team

“IberoDocs Edinburgh, is forged by the strength of its volunteers. It exudes hope and vitality thanks to a group of cinema enthusiasts who are passionate about real stories and who are fighters, but above all women-fighters. Thanks to them our culture survives and thrives. Yes, it is a necessary battle. I also had the opportunity to give a Masterclass at the Scottish Documentary Institute, a place with inevitable resonances to Grierson, Cavalcanti, Flaherty, Rotha etc. All of it in the dark closes and alleys of Edinburgh’s Old Town, where memory is entangled like ivy into the present. To the entire team of IBERODOCS and its director Mar Felices and to Noe Mendelle from the Scottish Documentary Institute, my sincere gratitude!”
